Team Wild Waves

My Pension Expert are delighted to be the platinum sponsor for Charlotte Harris and Jessica Oliver, aka Team Wild Waves, who have just completed the World’s Toughest Row, the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. In support of Women’s Aid and Shelter, these two exceptional women took on the behemoth task of rowing 3000 miles west across the Atlantic Ocean from the Canary Islands to Antigua and Barbuda over 60 days.

We are thrilled to report that the girls arrived in Antigua on the 26th of January, after 45 days, 7 hours and 25 minutes on the water, setting a new World Record for fastest women’s pair to row across the Atlantic Ocean! This incredible duo knocked almost 5 days off of the previous record – My Pension Expert could not be more proud! Watch their arrival into Nelson’s Dockyard below.

Supporting great causes

Team Wild Waves took on this challenge to help tackle homelessness and domestic abuse, with a goal of raising £100,000 pounds for Shelter and Women’s Aid. These are charities that have seen a dramatic increase in demand throughout the COVID19 pandemic, and money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of many across the nation. My Pension Expert share Wild Waves’ commitment to ensuring the right support reaches those in desperate need. So far, Jess and Charley have raised over £51,500 - help them reach their goal and support the cause by donating here.

Women's Aid

Women’s Aid directly supports victims of domestic abuse by providing support to domestic abuse professionals, and works within communities to build a future where domestic violence is not tolerated. Since the start of COVID19, domestic abuse charities have seen a 700% increase in visits to their helpline websites. Now more than ever, charities such as Women’s Aid need vital funds and resources to support the victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

Shelter works with the government to address the national housing crisis, ensure rights for renters, and increase social housing. Shelter also provides legal advice and helps secure safe accommodation for the homeless population. Last year, Shelter helped nearly 30,000 households through their face-to-face services, with six million visits to their online advice pages.
