Our Process

At My Pension Expert, our priority is always the outcome for you, our client. We’ve developed our process with the following in mind:

  • Convenience – our team of specialists and advisers are here when convenient for you, whether that be during the day, in the evening or at weekends.
  • Advice & Protection – every client receives full independent advice and full pension checks to ensure that moving their pension is the right thing to do.
  • Efficiency – our whole process has been designed so that you receive your tax-free cash and any income as soon as possible.
Step 1

Speak to a Retirement Specialist

When you begin your journey with My Pension Expert, you will initially speak to a retirement specialist. On this call, your retirement specialist will make you aware of all the options available to you at retirement, capturing your objectives and basic information about the pensions you have.

Following the call, you will receive an information pack including a guide to retirement and your requested quotations and illustrations.

Step 2

Book Your IFA Appointment

After receiving your quotations and illustrations, your retirement specialist will call you to answer any questions you may have and, where required, produce additional quotations.

Once you are completely happy they will then organise an appointment with one of our Independent Financial Advisers at a time and date convenient for you. Your appointment will take place either over the phone or by video call if you prefer.

Step 3

Receive Independent Advice

After learning the options available to you, the advice appointment is where you will understand which option is right for you. As part of your discussions, your IFA will carry out a ‘fact find’ in which they will ask more about your retirement objectives, your lifestyle and financial circumstances as well as establishing your attitude to risk for invested products.

Once they have a full understanding of your situation they will then take you through the options you are looking to consider along with the pros and cons of each and how they relate to your individual circumstances. Your IFA will then make their recommendation to you before agreeing how you wish to proceed.

Step 4

Suitability Report & Application

Following your advice appointment, your IFA will send out a ‘Suitability Report’. This document sets out in writing the recommendation they have made and why this recommendation is right for you and your circumstances.

At this stage, you will also receive an application pack for your chosen income product and will be assigned a dedicated member of our Client Support Team to help complete the paperwork and organise the transfer of funds to your new provider.

Step 5

Pensions Analysis & Fund Transfer

Your dedicated Client Support Representative will manage the whole application process for you, completing as much of the paperwork as possible on your behalf and chasing your existing pension providers to ensure a smooth and swift transfer of funds to your new provider.

The Client Support Team will also carry out checks on your existing pensions to ensure that you do not miss out on any safeguarded benefits and that moving the pension is still the right thing to do. If they find anything in your existing policies they will refer this to your IFA who will advise if any change of advice is needed.

Your support representative will keep you up to date at every stage right through to your tax-free cash being paid and any income arrangement set up.
